Flood plain House
Status: Planning Approved Dec 2015
Location: Jury’s Gap, East Sussex
RAW have developed a simple, efficient and economic proposal for a flood plain house in East Sussex. The proposals incorporate a simple single volume containing a series of very compact sleeping cabins and wet spaces, leaving the remaining living spaces to occupy the majority of the footprint. Both internal and external finishes will be robust and utilitarian, with various fitted internal objects including stairs, benches and storage units constructed of unfinished timber, whilst the entire external skin of the building will be corrugated cementitious boards. Unadorned detailing and subtle colour will reinforce the simple characteristics of a building, which is of it's place and sits as part of the group of surrounding structures, shacks, sheds and cottages.
