Under one Roof

Status: Complete
Location: London & Manchester
Client: London Festival of Architecture & Architecture LGBT+

Further to winning an open design competition, construction of the Float for London Festival of Architecture, and Architecture LGBT+ has been completed.

The Float made its debut at Pride London in July 2019, and is set to roll into Manchester for Pride at the end of August 2019.

Thanks to RAW Architecture Workshop, we’re celebrating the brilliance of London’s architecture sector, and the diversity which allows it to thrive. Under One Roof really stands out from the crowd, and it’s been a real joy to join LGBT+ architects and their friends for such a joyful and important occasion
— Tamsie Thomson - Director, London Festival of Architecture

Under One Roof features a simple architectural concept: an inverted mirrored roof supported by a scaffolding and timber frame. This not only enhances the visibility of the brightly coloured float and its occupants and allows everyone on board to be immersed in the parade, but also allows people in the crowd lining the route to see reflections of other crowd members, thereby bringing them together visually under one roof. Architects and their friends from London and around the world joined the float in the Pride in London parade.

It was a really tough judging process this year due to the incredible response from practices but Under One Roof stood out for us for its clear message and eye-catching design.
— Tom Guy - Founder, Architecture LGBT+
